Parsons Challenge: All these pieces are based around the central idea of sisterhood.

Everyday I live my life as others do, with a routine. I run back and forth, and in and out of the house. Often times I see the three family members that live with me, less than I see my friends during the school day. We all have hectic schedules, which at times leave us tumbling in the door of the house for the first time during the late evening, after leaving the house in the early morning. The person I see least unfortunately, is my sister. Since I graduated from middle school we see each other less and less. She has her endless list of things to do, and I have mine. There are days that I speak to her for a mere total of thirty minutes. It’s something I’ve seemed to lose track of, something that obliviously affects our relationship. We have a strong sisterhood despite this and that is what I’m trying to portray in this piece. A sense of distance that still has a very palpable sense of closeness.

Suddenly, when I realized that I was going to college I grew this attachment to my sister. When I went to Parsons this summer, it actualized the fact that we were going to be apart for months at a time. When I went away it was bizarre the way we call a lot more, I’d get a txt from her kindly stating “I miss you.” I’m not used to this from my sister, she’s not really a person that likes too much cuddling up, warm fuzzy feelings. She enjoys her space, but seemingly when given to much space, she craved the closeness that we have at home. The very thing we both take for granted.

Now, our lives have gotten to the point that there is literally always something to do. Now that attachment has faded a bit, since I’ve been back home for a while now. To an extent though, I feel as if some of that closeness lingers. We are close, we fight less. My sister is someone who has shared almost my entire life with. The beauty lies in the memories we share. Intricate and somewhat delicate, our sisterhood has a strength to it. I know that no matter what, she will always be there to help when I have a downfall. Knows not only the beautiful but also the grim. In many ways the sister is the

Senior Year Fashion

This year, I've been pushing myself to take more risks not only in my design but also in using different media.
This first piece is marker and the second piece is gouache.

This piece (above) was an assignment which challenge my class to take the line of a current designer and make it a ready-to-wear fall/winter juniors line. My designer was Dior and I was loosely inspired by the circus. I used loud, fun colors and flattering shapes for the junior client.

This piece (above) was also an assignment, in which we were to be inspired by a building I chose the Sanite Chapelle in Paris, France. I played around with the transparency of the stained glass windows of the Gothic Chapelle. I was also inspired by the romance of Paris so I wanted this entire collection to be romantic and feminine.

Summer Fashion Work

This summer I went to Parsons for a pre-college course, so most of this work was done there. Although, some of this was post-Parsons. I grew not only in my design but, also in my figures. To compare to my previous work check out the post made on Jan. 16, 2010.
